Re: Odd way of dendrite growth in a Cr, Mn and B alloyed tool steel
Dear Bernd, Thank you for your inputs. By using mob_corr and altering avg driving force, I can be able to simulate dendrite with a regular growth unlike before. So I believe that the problem is solved. But now I'm facing another problem in the same simulation of Fe-C-B-Cr-Mn system. We have 5 elemen...

Re: Odd way of dendrite growth in a Cr, Mn and B alloyed tool steel
Dear Bernd, Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I used 45° orientation. 1) I did not use the mob_corr option for this. I started this simulation by using the mobility numbers for each phase interaction from another successfully completed simulation (which has no Mn. I added Mn for this current on...

Odd way of dendrite growth in a Cr, Mn and B alloyed tool steel
Hello, I'm running a simulation for Solidification in Cr, Mn and B alloyed tool steel. Grid spacing is 0.5µm and cell dimension is 150 X 150. As you can see in the image file below, initial dendrite growth is looking odd. I feel the interface energies are not the problem. Because higher interface en...

Interface expansion and dendrite widespread during the solidification of a tool steel
Hello, I simulated solidification behaviour for a B and Cr alloyed tool steel for three different cooling rates 0.1 K/s, 1 K/s and 10 K/s. Kindly check the following image which shows the dendrite growth at 50%, 65% and 100% solidification. All these simulations are having same resolutions 10µm and ...

Re: Error: Solidification in Martensitic tool steel during Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process
Hi Bernd, I think I misunderstood about the output in .cphas files. There are no persistent negative regions in my output but there is a negative composition(Minimum). Just like in the screenshot attached below (cPhase_output.jpg). I think this is not a big problem for the simulation. Is it? Current...

Re: Error: Solidification in Martensitic tool steel during Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process
Dear Bernd, Thank you again! In continuation of your previous response (In 4th answer), you've said the checking persistent negative regions will give a hint of the origin of the error. How do I avoid those negative regions? Do you mean by using <Limts>? As you've advised, I put up the all new simul...

Re: Error: Solidification in Martensitic tool steel during Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process
Hello Bernd, Thank you very much for your inputs. I have gone through your feedback and my feedback below goes in the same order. 1) In the .TabLin output, what do you mean by solidus/liquidus slopes which are close to 0 ?. The lowest slope I can find is -0.01. Is this number is close to 0 or is it ...

Error: Solidification in Martensitic tool steel during Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process
Hello, I'm currently doing MICRESS simulations for martensitic tool steel during selective laser melting process. I'm frequently facing the following errors during the simulation, trying harder! Error = 1 trying hard phases 0 1 level: 4 zp= 40164 error= 1 trying harder! Error = 1 trying hard phases ...
