The temperature trend

Hi, Bernd,

What about the option of "sinus" in "Type of temperature trend"? How to used it?

Is it also possible for us to employ the continuous temperature variations in MICRESS, like,

Time(s) Cooling rate (K/s) Temperature gradient (K/mm)
0 2.0 100
1 1.0 50
... ... ...

Thank you for your time!

Sunny

Hi sunny!

The option "sinus" in the temperature trend is a remnant from older times and is currently not working. It will be removed completely in the next release of MICRESS.

The most simple way to specify a temperature trend is just to input an initial temperature, a cooling rate and a temperature gradient. But it is also possible to define several "connection points" for definition of a step-wise temperature-time profile with varying temperature gradient. This is similar as you proposed, you are just giving temperature values instead of cooling rates.

Ultimately, we implemented the reading of one-dimensional temperature profile (in z direction) from file for each connection point with interpolation between the connection points. This will be available with the next release or as beta-version.

Do you have special requirements which are not covered by these alternatives?
