variable initial concentration

It is possible to change the concentration between two components within the domain during the simulation like a source or a sink outside the domain?

Dear mogeritsch,

this in principle would be possible by using a fixed boundary condition for concentration. But you can do this only for all elements together...

For changing the composition of one single component (against the matrix component) you would have to use a more subtle trick like definition of a (pseudo-)phase with specific thermodynamic properties. E.g. you could define a gas phase at one side of the domain which allows you to simulate a controlled oxygen flow into the domain. We did that once for simulation reactive air brazing (RAB).

What exactly would be the purpose why you want to do that?
