Diffusion coefficient

Post by chika » Thu May 01, 2025 7:20 pm

Hi there,

I am looking for a way to account for the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficient without using a mobility database.
Is this possible in MICRESS?

Best regards,
Chika

Dear Chika,

No, I am sorry, this is not possible right now. We assume that, typically, the user wouldn't know the concentration dependency of diffusion coefficients without having a diffusion database. Which is your application case?

Best wishes
Bernd

Dear Bernd,

Thank you for your reply.

I was planning to try a calculation of Fe-C binary system.
There are many references to estimate C dependence of the diffusion coefficient in austenite phase.

Best regards,
Chika

Dear Chika,

I never did that, but I think it should also not be too complicated to put such literature information about diffusion coefficients into the format of a mobility database file...

Dear Bernd,

I am sorry to be late for the reply.

Thank you for your suggestion.
My organization does not have access to the mobility database, so I will have to think of another way to do this.

Best regards,
Chika
